Bluedot: day one / The Hallé Orchestra

The best laid plans and all that... I was supposed to have a leisurely morning off before heading down to Jodrell Bank for the first day of the Bluedot festival. (Actually, it was more of a warm up day, rather than the first day as such. Read on, you'll see what I mean.)

However, I was then invited to a meeting in Leeds that I really couldn't miss, so I started the day with a half-marathon, then drove across for the meeting, and then set off for Bluedot, stopping en route to change out of my suit and into my new kilt and festival gear. 

The Minx was already there and set up in the tent, coming to the gate to meet me when I arrived. We dropped off my stuff and then went into the main field for a drink and to find a spot from which to watch the Hallé. This year, the festival has opened a day early, with just this one event on in the evening: the Hallé Orchestra playing along to clips from 'The Blue Planet'.

It promised to be a great evening and totally delivered. We sat on our blanket watching the wonderful footage accompanied by the stirring music. Great start to the festival.
