The river cruise went very slowly...

.. today, because there was so much river traffic at the various locks. 

We eventually arrived at our evening destination Alken, barely  in time for a quick tour of this Medieval castle, Burg Thurant. For once, a very well informed and interesting guide showed us around the curious features of the buildings. 

The visit also allowed us to climb to the top of the left hand tower, which gave splendid views of the river and the small town below.

Many thanks for your comments on our tour letting me know that the blips can be seen, since, with the current poor connections, I am unable to see them.
