'... an abiding sense of place', Orkney

Explored the Kirkwall Museum (where the words 'an abiding sense of place' struck me as particularly apt given Orkney's amazing story) and the Bishop’s and Earl’s Palaces, this morning.  Drove out to Stenness to see the Stones of Stenness and the Ness of Brodgar, a World Heritage Site archaeological dig between the Ring of Brodgar and the Stones of Stenness.  Very excited to witness (what I expect is called) a 'find'—the unearthing of a stone bearing (from what we overheard) a Pictish inscription. It caused quite a stir on site. (See extra.)
