Those Trees Again

I recently spoke to Tom, who is the tenant farmer here. His family have been working this land for over 200 years. His son and grandson are also continuing the tradition. The land is owned by a certain Guy Fawkes! 

He told me that these solitary trees are often planted in boggy patches to soak up the water. He also said that they were only about 20 years old, which seemed very surprising. I waxed lyrical about their aesthetics but I don't think he really got what I was talking about!

I guess I'm going to be calling them Tom's Trees from now on.
