Why the long face?

Do horses get lonely? This one lives on some waste land in the village and was originally, I believe, taken there by some travellers who have since been moved on. The land is now fenced off and the entrance boarded up to prevent the travellers getting back in and the horse appears to reside there all by herself. She came straight over to say hello when I stopped to take this picture and I felt bad that I didn't have anything to give her. I may have to pop back with some carrots.
