The Collesseum
This morning we went to church. St Maria ai Monti to be exact, to light a candle for a very good friend who has been through the mill lately with ill health of both herself and her parents.
We left the church just as the heavens opened and a street trader appeared from nowhere selling umbrellas - which of course we needed if we were to even begin to think of stepping into the street.
It was a short distance from there to the Collesseum where we managed to get wetter and wetter and we took shelter under a group of trees - exactly where you shouldn't in a storm! A quick photo op before we decided to abandon the visit and brave the storm back to our hotel to dry out a little and have lunch before we had to head back to the airport.
Thankfully we decided to get to the airport a little early as the weather steadily deteriorated with storm after storm rolling in. We had a fabulous view of the storms where we settled.
A gate change and then we had a wait on the plane for takeoff for a window safe enough to leave. Storms from above are beautiful, but I do not like being 'in' them!
