The Other GWR
Not the one I knew and loved as a boy growing up in Wales. I have fond memories of my grandfather, who was the school caretaker, taking me from school in the early afternoon of a sunny summer day. He then handed me over to my grandmother, who took me to the seaside at Porthcawl.
This was a time when few people we knew had cars, so it was a treat beyond belief. I never told any of my classmates where I went.
We'll be riding on an assortment of old steam trains soon. We'll also be visiting some really good brewpubs. I'm getting really excited!
