Watching the birds grooming themselves on wires, backlit in early morning light, while last night’s raindrops drip off leaves. No care for manmade troubles. Just going about their lives.

7 people shot just blocks from my grandparents’ former home, where I felt safest as a child.

And what an impromptu celebration of J and Y’s engagement last night!  The Fox was radiating joy, with a houseful of family and friends, doing what she does best. Nearly a hundred people showed up in a heavy downpour with only a few hours’ notice. We were honored and delighted to share in the happiness. We successfully dodged downed power lines and flooding on the drive home.
