The Lion King
One of the hottest days of the year and we went to the Lion King - open air cinema at Burghley. A group of us had organised it a little while ago and bought tickets and I've been really looking forward to it. A few people dropped out due to the heat and were worried that there would be little if any shade. We braved it and found a spot right at the back with some shade and amazingly, a bit of a breeze.
We settled into the film with a picnic, the children all did very well - until about an hour into it and they just started to get a little bored, as well as the sun starting to creep up on us in our now not so shady spot. One family left early and we were all packed up ready for the end of the film.
The boys slept all the way home and once we were home and they were in their beds, I decided to leave them to sleep. Foolish decision, they slept until 4pm, it's now 10pm and they are both wide awake, way too hot and not looking as if they are vaguely interested in bed. We've given up on keeping them in their bedroom (it's so hot in there) and they're down stairs with us.
