Shiny Green Bug on a Periwinkle Bloom
We have been enjoying the butterflies and other bugs on the closed road at the Scotia range. My husband jogged there the first morning that there was sunshine after all the recent rains, and he said the butterfly show was fantastic, maybe the best he'd ever seen.
So we returned to the closed road on Friday afternoon, to fit in a quick walk before the next set of thunderstorms. There were indeed quite a few butterflies, including black swallowtails, tiger swallowtails, monarchs, red-spotted purples, and even a viceroy or two.
As the clouds were darkening and thunder rolled in the distance, we quickly headed back to the car. I snapped a few last shots of one of the chicory blooms, when I noticed a cool green bug on it. What a fine day indeed, when you are a shiny green bug and your whole world is a periwinkle blue flower.
The song: Doris Day, Periwinkle Blue.
P.S. The flower is chicory; the shade is periwinkle blue!
