Glasgow High Street mural

Sam Bates, aka Smug, is an Australian street artist living in Glasgow. This is one of his latest pieces on a tenement gable in High Street. It took about a week to paint and depicts Glasgow's patron saint Mungo in modern-day clothes. The story goes that, when he was a boy, he witnessed a group of youths from his village throwing stones at robins pecking for scraps. One bird fell to the ground. Mungo ran to the wee bird. Picking  it up, he smoothed its feathers while praying for its life. It revived and flew away. The villagers called it a miracle.
