For the Birds

“An amazing night time walk in a historic woodland landscape transformed by bespoke light and sound installations produced by some of the most dynamic sound artists currently working in the UK, including Mark Anderson, Jony Easterby, Kathy Hinde, Ulf Pedersen and Pippa Taylor.
Marvel at the beauty and poignancy of the installations - performances, projections and kinetic sculptures - that celebrate birds in song, movement and flight, immersed in the woodlands at night” - Milton Keynes International Festival brochure

It’s hard to describe this experience but one of the biggest surprises was coming across a cellist sitting next to a standard lamp playing “Danny Boy”.

The International Festival comes to an end tomorrow. This week has seen dozens of things happening all over the City. We managed to get to see just four of them. A troupe of acrobats, Romeo and Juliet performed by four girls who arrived by bicycle, a folk singer telling tales of Scottish peat bogs and the birds who breed there and tonight’s fantastic walk in the woods. I think it’s safe to say it’s been a success. Can’t wait till it comes round again in two years time.
