Dinner on the Deck
HOT. I hate to complain too much because it's not as hot as many other places on the West coast. But now that we have an umbrella we had dinner (cold homemade melon soup and store-bought quiche..extra)_ on our roof deck. So many little boats cruising around (the other extra, with “pirate ship”)…and then this barge comes barreling through. We’re not thrilled with the railing we had to put up. I have to stand up to get it out off the picture while sitting at the table. hazy skies.. (but not smoke) I did not see one other person on the roof deck of all those floating homes. too hot I guess. and today we heard scuttlebutt that some of the neighbors think the price
of the unit on the market here is too low!! (we thought it shockingly high.) sigh.
Now the good news: Friends texted us about staying on our Island dock last night on their way north…fine, of course, but I texted back to be on the lookout for the seal pup. Well. it’s still there hanging out! She followed their little boy not yet 6 years old in his wee kayak - (he said he was scared but he knew he shouldn’t be. He was also excited to walk to the faerie circle which he remembered from last year.) AND…. They saw an adult seal hanging out not far away!!! I’m hoping that is the Mom who feeds this very independent pup of hers who is still looking OK… So we’ll see….. the saga continues…
