John Grant

If one travels the Browns Gap Road through the Hartley Valley, one crosses the  "John Grant Bridge"

This bridge honours the early pioneer settler, John Grant. He was born in Moyne, Tipperary, Ireland but transported to New South Wales in 1810 at the age of 18. He proved to be an exemplary convict and was subsequently freed. In 1820, he was granted his first 50 acres and named it "Moyne Farm" at Hartley, NSW.
