Surviving!
Over the last couple of days we have had SE gales, torrential rain and thunder and lightning and the plants are really beginning to suffer. I have had to prop up the runner beans and sweet pea wigwams which were leaning at a precarious angle and a lot of the taller plants have battered brown leaves and dead flower heads. Hey ho!
Between the showers today I chopped back a lot of the perennials that are past their best in the hope that I might get another few flowers before the end of the summer. You never know!
These carnations are doing really well though, growing in the shelter of the broad beans! Who remembers the advert "All the family love Carnation because it's double rich"? One of my sisters hated it, I still love it!
