Droplets
Monday
After our gorgeous weekend, with sunshine and temperatures approaching 70F, today the mercury plummeted, and it rained most of the day, finally drying up toward evening. Despite this, the day got off to a great start when I got on to my laptop first thing this morning to find a Facebook message from our son Philip to let us know he was safely back in Alamorgordo, New Mexico after his 6-month deployment in Afghanistan - such perfect timing since today was Veteran's Day! He had told us at the beginning of last week he would be leaving in a couple of days time, but of course they come back in stages with several layovers. Also while on the computer, I discovered Laura was online, so we both had a nice long chat with her on Skype. Then later in the morning we went to work out at the gym. The rest of the day was spent doing odd jobs, until this evening when we went to a short Veteran's Day service in the old chapel at our church - a nice way to focus our minds on the true meaning of the day.
