A Bridge too Far!
This is a back-blip of a walk from Thursday last week when the temperature was around 33 degrees C!
The plan was to walk from Stiffkey to Blakeney, with M, B and our visiting friends M&M. M knew it was way too hot for his liking so decided to stay at home and drive out to join us for lunch at the Blakeney Hotel (sensible fellow!).
Well, we did two thirds of the walk to Morston Quay and we all looked like overheated, boiled lobsters by the time we got there and felt like it too! We managed to find a bench where there was a breeze (albeit a warm one) to cool off, (aided by bottled water and ice cream). Then, we decided to give up on doing the last part of the walk and phoned M to come and fetch us. Once transported to our intended destination, we were reward for our efforts with a delicious lunch of freshly made sandwiches and iced drinks, seated in comfortable armchairs, in the hotel with views over the marshes…heaven!
The funniest thing was while waiting at Morston, a young couple with a Beagle came by, the dog was clearly very hot too and kept pulling on his lead to get near the water in the creek. The tide was almost completely out and when let off his lead he ran straight into the middle of the remaining stream pushed his front legs forward and back with his rear legs and lowered his tummy into the cooling water and mud. You could almost see the look of bliss on his face! The only trouble was he was covered in sticky estuary mud when he got out…but I don’t think he cared much about that.
Apologies for lack of comments again, I seem to be behind with everything but hope to catch up with you all over the next few days.
Thank you for all the hearts and kind comments about my 'wedding vow renewal' blip, much appreciated and adds to the happy memories of the day.
