When Fergus was watching Gannets
15.3C and mostly cloudy with a few showers late afternoon. S/SSE wind to 23 mph with gusts to 34 mph.
Apothecary7's day off.
When Fergus and I went for our morning walk there was a ship in the harbour with an array of 9 wind turbine blades arranged on deck. Heavy lifting cranes were in place on the new quay and heavy haulage lorries were beginning to arrive to take the blades away.
Mid morning we went to Westport beach and had a long walk along towards Machrihanish. Fergus had a good run about on the beach with another dog. He got it to chase him up the beach, then he chased it back towards its owners. Several times. He then ran off ahead along the beach. He often disappears into the distance which can be a bit if a worry. We found him by the seat at the back of the beach. We had wondered where he had gone off to but he does seem to have learned that he should wait for us there !
We had a seat for a while so we could watch the Gannets diving into the waves offshore. They are amazing to watch when they surface and take off and skim along the length of a wave waiting for it to begin to break and give them the lift they need to soar up into the air again.
After lunch Apothecary7 Fergus sat while I went to the bookshop. Frustratingly, it is closed until Thursday.
I came home via the library, where I had a look though the microfilm of the local paper for 1916 to find an obituary. I have a little personal project on the go which is related to the Picture House archive.
Later Apothecary7 was painting.
