Mallard Family + Turtles

We went to Fort River Refuge today, for the first time since our return from Europe. It was midday and very warm--not ideal, but we saw a good deal, even though we didn't pass the pools near the start of the circuit. I'd call the mallard youngsters adolescents, but they were still keeping very close to their mom, as you see.  In the extra are painted turtles (I have no idea whether they're a family also :)  I don't specifically recall seeing them here, but they're similar to red-eared sliders, which I believe I've usually had.  A very enjoyable outing.
