Eastgate Centre Clock
My watch stopped today so this afternoon went down to Timpson's to get a new battery for it and also another old watch which I haven't used for a bit. The boss of the company, John Timpson, runs a business advice column in the Daily Telegraph and is generally very scathing about some of the pettifogging restrictions. But what he always bangs on about is the need to give good customer service with a smile. The little shop in Inverness's Eastgate was doing a good trade today dealing whilst I was there with keys, watches, and shoe heels. Also worth mentioning that he is keen to recruit from prisons and has found that to be very successful.
The picture shows the clock in the centre. Not the best angle for a shot but unfortunately there's a big sort of glass screen several feet in front of it so it's not possible to get a distant shot - you have to be more or less underneath. Personally I think it's rather tawdry but every hour it puts on a little "show" and sometimes lots of children craning their necks to see the animals moving.
