Cannon Beach again!

I knew there wouldn’t be a visible sunrise but I was still on the beach at 6am and there was some lovely light.

This is Haystack Rock from the other direction. We had another stupidly large breakfast, a scenic drive through Ecola State Park, then another picturesque drive down the 101 to Newport. Our hotel is great, right on the ocean where there are allegedly lots of whales passing by. Newport is not really our cup of tea but we will visit the aquarium tomorrow amd hopefully find some more of the delicious smoked salmon chowder we had earlier.

Last night I was sitting in my ocean front hotel room on Cannon Beach reading about the risk of tsunami there. General consensus is that if (when) there is an earthquake in the subduction zone off the Oregon coast, Cannon Beach will bear the brunt. As we left the hotel this morning they tested the tsunami warning sirens - I nearly peed my pants!
