Oak Bush Cricket

Doubly depressed today - not only did my car go to the scrap yard :-(( but also my fave four months of the year are over for another eight months! - standing here today April 1st looks an awful long way off, with another cold, dark and horrible winter in the middle!
Anyway, this is an Oak Bush Cricket Meconema thalassinum, one of our smaller crickets at 13 - 17 mm long  it is another species more common here in the south of England, it is completely arboreal living in trees, shrubs and hedgerows and feeding on other insects ( this one was on some oak I picked for my larvae). The female has a long slightly upturned ovipositor and males like this long curved cerci, both sexes are fully winged.
It can be found from late July into the autumn and is rather sweet.
