Busy Harbour
15.4C cloudy with occasional smir, brightening from lunchtime onwards.. Light W/WNW breeze.
It was quite misty and between smir showers this morning when Fergus and I went for our 7am walk. The harbour was busy. The CalMac ferry was still at the New Quay, all the wind turbine bits and bobs were on the Quay, and Thalassa was at the head of the Old Quay. After being on the Quayside overnight near the Pilot boat the passenger ferry for Ballycastle was being put back in the water at the slipway. A tractor was reversing the trailer with the boat towards the water as we walked past the Picture house.
After lunch Fergus and I went for a walk out to the old shipyard. It was brighter and dry. Some of the wind turbine pieces had been taken away by then. When we walked round by the harbour on the way home a huge lorry and trailer were inching along the shore side of the dual carriageway with the section of a wind turbine where the blades join the tower. Someone had clearly forgotten to stop people parking on that part of Hall Street. Anyone who came along and saw the lorry inching past their car would have had their heart in their mouth.
