Another ancient piece of equipment to repair today. No transistors inside, but electronic valves. Suspect this is the first thing I tried to repair with these fitted... excluding the first TV's we had at home when growing up. The standard way of fixing problems back then, wasn't switch it off and on again, but to give it a thump on the top of the case, or whichever location would usually get it going. Failing that, you had to call for a TV repair engineer to come and sort it - safer than taking it to them, as the shuggling about in transit after a repair, might stop it working again.
Nice to see that little glow. There were a couple more in there, as per the first extra. The second extra is the associated piece of kit that the faulty unit is supposed to control. It may be ancient, but it's still a good piece of equipment that the company still makes. The current control unit is a lot smaller...
