Number 13

This is Well number 13 at Eagland Hill near Pilling, Lancashire. It used to supply water via pipeline to the brine wells at Preesall and then the brine was pumped under the river Wyre to the ICI works at Thornton.

The person I was talking to thought that this line of wells had been sunk just after WWII, there is another line of wells nearby that were sunk before the war. The wells are supposed to be about 400 feet deep.

Water hasn't been pumped from these wells since the early 1970's.

There are a few more pictures here if you have got time.
