Buxus moth
The boxwood moth (Cydalima perspectalis) comes from Asia (Japan, South Korea, China). Presumably, this moth was introduced in Germany around 2005 via import of Buxus from Asia. In 2007 he was also spotted in the Netherlands. The first years he was only present in the western river area, but now he has expanded considerably.
'Invasive exotic'
The Buxus moth is a so-called invasive exotic. This means that the species of origin does not occur in our country and has come here through human intervention. The invasive character means that the species can reproduce here, settle in new habitats and then expand.
This was the whole day against the ceiling of our balcony. Without a macro lens, I tried to photograph it. For this, use a 70-200 with 2x extender and a 25 mm extension tube. Could not come close to work with a tripod, therefore used a household ladder to get close. The final distance was about 70 cm. The photo has not been cropped.
