New arrival, a five year old Peugeot 206. The former 205 took its last on-the-road journey several weeks ago, and may well be a cube of crushed metal by now. I'll miss it. Mind you, have survived the past few weeks with no car, as I did for years before buying the 205 - that being necessitated by moving to a new job, with a much longer commute. Succumbed to pressure from A.N.Other and now have the luxury of the estate version of this wee car. Bigger engine too, up from 1.1 to 1.4 litres. Load of other things I'm not used to, and would rather not have. Unnecessary extra complexity that's ridiculously expensive to repair when, not if, it goes wrong: central locking; power steering; electric (front) windows; air-conditioning, to name a few.
Had it not been for the kayaking, I likely would've done without a car, only hiring one, or a van, when wanting anything large shifted about. Need to get sorted with roof bars etc, as there's a solo kayaking adventure planned next weekend, to coincide with a taxiing favour from the vicinity.
Would have been nice if there'd been some fuel in it, rather than just the fumes that allowed it to reach a nearby petrol station. The 205 did me for eleven years. Wonder how long this one will last. So here goes, long live the 206!
