A Last Hurrah

Dear Diary,

The day lilies are making a last stand in the meditation garden, their last hurrah so to speak.  We are starting the slow but steady slide into autumn.  The late bloomers are preparing for their debut, the sedum and asters are on deck.  I hate to see the end of the day lilies but the rubeckia is still putting on quite a show.

It is too hot to work in the garden accept very early in the morning and even then I can't stay out there very long.  The porch offers no respite either.  I can't think of a summer that has been so hot for so long.  I am feeling decidedly under the weather this morning.  Best to lay low today.
