Visitors from New Jersey
At lunchtime Lyn and I took a practice kiltwalk stroll up to the castle. There we found some kilts worthy of the name. This is some of the girls of the Governor Livingston Highlander Band. The band is based at the Governor Livingston High School in New Jersey. The school was named after Governor William Livingston, Governor of New Jersey from 1776 to 1790, and signer of the constitution. William Livingston was the son of Robert Livingston, originally from Ancrum in the Scottish Borders. The band is apparently highly regarded at home and makes a trip to Scotland every four years. After Stirling they're off to Inverness tomorrow, then Edinburgh and then, of course, Ancrum. I added an extra of some of the other band members as they prepared to march into the castle and perform at the Queen Anne Garden. What lovely young people and how important to be reminded of the goodheartedness of most Americans.
Lovely warm (not hot and humid) day. I won't be able to do a kiltwalk practice tomorrow so I might feel the urge to go out again this afternoon.
