A raincoat, walking boots and warm clothing day
Today temperatures did not too 10 degrees Centigrade and it was a raincoat, walking boots and warm clothing kind of day...
After breakfast we made our way to Borgarfjarðarhreppur as we had heard you could get really close to a colony of puffins (see extra). We were not disappointed! On the headland just outside the village is a colony of about 10.000 puffin pairs. The puffins were completely unfazed by their human visitors - amazing! As the weather deteriorated our coffee in Borgarfjarðarhreppur turned into lunch and a change op plans for the afternoon. We were planning to make a walk on the moor land of Borgarfjarðarhreppur, but the wind, rain and fog made that too unappealing. Instead we drove to Seyðisfjörður one fjord up. In contrast to most Icelandic towns, Seyðisfjörður has lovely coloured wooden houses (the were imported as kits from Norway early 20th cenury). After having looked around we were soaked and in need of another hot drink...
