Me and my shadow
I always spend a sunny day during the Big Butterfly Count in my favourite Reserve, the Woodland Trust Pipe Hall Farm Reserve.
There is usually a rich assortment of butterflies in the various types of vegetation here.
Not so today. A few Large Whites, a single Ringlet, and five Speckled Woods.
Not a Small Tortoiseshell nor a Peacock nor a Red Admiral in sight. And, rather scarily, not a Meadow Brown, even in the Meadow area.....
The light was sharp and harsh and the few butterflies rather fluttery, so my photo is of a rather posy Speckled Wood.
