People and their Pets (3)

I didn't really have the right camera to do this pair justice, but their surroundings were nice too. Ozzie and I got to Spring Lake quite early this morning because it''s been so hot later in the day, but the quality of the air was definitely bad. The red sun and orangish light are the giveaway. It all depends on the direction of the wind.

It wasn't uplifting to read that the Mendocino Complex Fire burning in the next county is now the biggest in California history. I have learned since my grade school days that wildfires are a normal and necessary part of California ecology...that some seeds need fire to sprout, that the understory needs to be cleared out so that the large trees can thrive. But that was before the population of California was almost 40 million people. And before we built our homes on the edge of the forest. And before climate change.

Dana and I had a nice field trip down to Petaluma today for a little retail therapy at a women's clothing store called J Fermi, recommended by Bob  (yes...a guy who likes to shop) in Pilates class. Maybe I'll go shopping with Bob one day....OilMan would prefer to lie down in front of a bus.

School starts next week in Santa Rosa so Dana will be back at work, but the boys don't start until the middle of September. After that we may be doing a bit of doggie day care so that Blake won't be at home by himself all day...
