zuni pot

This is one of my favorite/favourite (I'm biligual!) pots. All the images have meanings, which of course I can't remember. The woman who made this is about my age. If I lived to be 1,000 there is no way I could craft anything from the clay of the earth that would even vaguely resemble this. I have often thought about this when travelling. How very,very clever people are, who can fashion something with their hands. In the remotest parts of the world there are artisans of all kinds whose skills seem somewhat marginalised.
