Brisbane

A family day out in town doing festival stuff. First up was Avenue Q, a terrific piece of musical theatre with puppets performed by American high school kids from Orlando to a ridiculous degree of professionalism - an incredibly talented cast. Then there was some quality fish and chips and a pint at the place photographed here, before the very polished and slick Showstopper! at The Pleasance. I really enjoyed it but, if I had to pick between the two shows we saw, I'd go for the rougher edges of the first one.

A quick fifteen minutes at home after all the family activities and then a brisk cycle over to Summerhall with pals for Prehistoric, an intense piece of theatre with live music in the Demonstration Room (a really great venue for this kind of thing). All about punk music and civil liberties in Brisbane in the late 70s. Funny, tender, angry, poignant, exciting - thoroughly reccommended! Beer in the courtyard capped off a great day and night.

Sweet pic from jaybroek here from the show.
