"Are you ready for your close-up?"

Dear Diary,

I saw a dragonfly taking a little rest on a daylily bud and thought it might be a good chance for me to try out my new Canon on a macro shot.  I must say, I am impressed with its performance.  Mr. Dragonfly sat very still and was unconcerned with this paparazzi stalking him.  I haven't seen many dragonflies lately and thought they were pretty much gone for the year.  I was lucky to find this one.

Some violent thunderstorms passed through late yesterday afternoon and I hope they bring with them some cooler temperatures.  This has been a rough spell of heat.  I'm thankful for the occasional thunderstorm to dampen the woods.  With all the wildfires out west, it is a real concern here too.
