Coats on, coats off, coats on, coats off!
It's Wednesday and the intrepid Haltwhistle long walkers set out on a circular from Talkin Village. Rain was forecast at lunchtime. It arrived earlier, but in short sharp bursts. Consequently we had waterproofs on and off and on and off again.
It was a lovely sunny day between showers.
George had designed a good route. As someone said, we were like the troops of the Grand Old Duke of York!
Gordon, our expert mycologist, says it will be a good time for field mushrooms. We saw a farmer and his tiny granddaughter collecting them. It's the rain after a long warm season that does it.
There were various hilarious one-liners during the walk, but I don't think I can repeat them here.
Alistair wore a very odd blue cap, but removed it when there were too many negative comments. He said he was going to form a new walking group, just for himself. I pointed out that this would not be a group...…
We finished early because Marie had a very swollen ankle and had to be "rescued" from the pub in Castle Carrock and brought to the pub in Talkin.
Geoff was back walking after his attack of gout.
Maureen's knee swelled. She applied an ice pack.
I had cramp when I arrived home.
As you can see we are hale and hearty and always have a great day out. At lunchtime we were passed by a horse drawn carriage, see extra.
