The Mayan Indians are known for having rather animated headdresses. For them, the headdress is not just about aesthetic value. Rather it has deep spiritual significance.

In general, head hair is considered to be the extension of the soul for the Mayans. Hence they use various forms of personal ornaments to decorate their hair and finish with a truly breathtaking headdress.

The headdress stands as an expression of the beliefs of the individual wearing the headdress. The Mayans believe that by wearing various items they can actually acquire the powers held within these items. This enables the individual wearing the items to gather wisdom and develop an insight that helps to live a truly enriching daily life.
