Freedom...
This is Freddie again. The white Fronted Amazon Parrot belonging to my friend. Its the second time shes brought him to me to photograph, this time she had shown me some images taken of birds in flight in a studio environment, by a very professional pet photographer. She wanted me to try to get Freddie, in flight in my studio!....... Hmmmm Yes, I am always up for a challenge but I didn't fancy my chances.
However, actually getting him in the shot was not as difficult as I thought, I got him in 99% of the shots I took, but my biggest challenge (and still is) is to get him with the correct lighting and to freeze the wing movement.
This image is three shots merged into one but I am not happy with them as individual shots as they are not remotely sharp. However, this is my first attempt so I'm not being too harsh on myself.
Subsequently I have done some research and found out some things with the help of some professional photographers (and ones which I didn't expect to get replies from but I did ;-))) and so when my friend brings him again I can put the help I've been given to good use.
My studio is littered with bits of almonds and other nuts but its been amazing fun and I love learning. Freddie is a wonderful bird with lots of character. Animals and birds and indeed reptiles are awesome to work with.
Its also a way to keep my thoughts away from losing Diesel. If I didn't have photography the sadness I feel from losing him would overwhelm me. Diesel loved coming in the studio and I know hes always there with me.
