Goldenrod

With the hot and humid weather we’ve had for the better part of the summer, it seemed in some small way that it would never end, that somehow global warming or divine intervention had stepped in to create an eternal summer even in northern New England. Today the high temperature was about 65 and this week the Goldenrod made its appearance and surely that is a signal that the days are getting shorter and autumn is coming, slowly at first but it will come.  To be sure, there is still some summer left and the blazing colors of autumn will make their appearance before the cold winds of winter arrive, but the changes are in the air.
