Off To Philadelphia
Ceridwen & I spent the day in London together. My last full day with her for this visit gave us perfect weather, a great list of interesting things to see at the Museum of London, Tower Bridge, and at both the top & bottom of the monument to the Great Fire of 1666. We finished the night with tapas and a very fine play. I took a good many fine shots, some of which would do well as picture post cards, but this one fits my mood the best.
Our shadows fell on this fragment of the ancient Wall of London, which stands as you see it in the Barbican district. The lyrics of an old Irish ballad came to mind:
When they told me I must leave the place I tried to wear a cheerful face
To show me heart's deep sorrow I was scornin'
But the tears will surely blind me for the friends I leave behind me
When I'm off to Philadelphia in the morning
