50 Years On
The scene on Carlisle station on the arrival of the Cumbrian Mountain Express recreating the 1T57 train, the "Fifteen Guinea Special" , the last steam worked train on British Railways before the steam ban came in the following day.
The journey today felt like a real piece of history, especially seeing all the spectators along the line, particularly at thr Ribblehead Viaduct
I have put this photo in as a similar picture was published of the original in Railway Magazine this month. Unfortunately the overhead electrical gear prevents the same angle as the original.
