Lantern Light
My day was spent at Waddesdon Manor working in the House welcoming our visitors. I was on the Main Door with another volunteer, where we check tickets, pass on a few house rules (eg photography allowed but no flashing) and making sure bags are either left with our visitor services or carried on fronts or sides. I think there has been more discussion by the management on bags and whether or not they can come in to the house than anything else! More or less any bag seems to come inside now.
This lantern in in the Oval Hall which is the first space visitors see. Generally they are more concerned with getting into the rooms ahead and so rarely look up to see the superb lantern lights suspended from the ceiling.
It was a busy day with a steady stream of people, so both of us were working flat out to get people through and into the House as fast as we could, especially later in the day as we close at 4 and time is limited; I don't think most people realise quite how much there is to see at Waddesdon.
J is back from his Morris Meet weekend and the car made it safely to and from Thorsby.
Another 'quiet' week ahead!
