Hollyhock

Autumn doesn't seem far away now - I'd thought about heading out to survey a site in Lincolnshire, but when I stepped out of the house it felt damp and chilly, so I decided that another quiet day would aid my recovery.

Instead Pete and I went to the local garden centre to buy some bird seed, and ended up bringing back some new plants to fill in some gaps and provide additional nectar to bridge the gap before the ice plants and Michaelmas daisies come into bloom. I nearly blipped one of the them, but was entranced by the delicate beauty of this last hollyhock bloom, backlit by the evening sun.
