Dreich Again

Once again it's a driech morning, with damp cobbles shining in a weak, wintry sun.

This lane has been patched with tarmac where the road has been dug up, but the tarmac seems to crack and form potholes while the surrounding cobbles survive. So much for progress. Why couldn't they just replace the cobbles properly?
