Unexpected events

A day full of unexpected events today in Reykjavik. A slightly later start than lately, which was nice. Although the weather wasn’t great we walked through most of the city centre and harbour area. We visited the chocolate factory of nomnom, where we tasted and bought some delicious chocolate. We had lunch in a lovely place called the Coocoo’s nest when Iceland ‘s most famous person walked in for lunch as well, Björk. The girls were oblivious, but Bert and I most definitely recognised her. Dinner was not Icelandic but Nepalese - quite delicious and the owner even lived and worked in Antwerp previously. After all the nature we have seen in the last two weeks, our last night in Iceland we saw this man play Bach. He is Icelandic pianist Ólafur Elíasson and he played 6 selected preludes and fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier on the Dómkirkjan church’s piano (as he does every Tuesday night, trying to completely all of them at some point. It was a lovely, but unexpected way to end our Iceland adventure. The photo was taken while he was warming up, not during the performance.
