Before the downpour - NYC skyline
A trip downtown today made for an awesome day, I mean AWESOME! Set off to see one of the 14-18 dazzle ships which should have been docked by the Hudson River Park - only it wasn't there....wherever could it be?
Anyway, we just so happened to walk into the soul moving, heart bleeding, respectful and dignified memorial that is ground zero. The sound and sight of the endless falling water was something I shall never forget - or the rainbows as the water fell. The names of the fallen are engraved around the edge and a white rose is placed on the names of those whose birthday it would have been today, (second extra) - I saw six white roses :(
On to Brooklyn Bridge and then a boat trip around the Statue of Liberty. Glorious sunshine and heat for most of the day then the storm clouds gathered while we were on the boat, with thunder, lightening and torrential rain as we docked.
Tackled the subway.....well ish..... down and up and down we went.
Loving the friendly American folk here, and the numbered, logic and squareness of their streets. And I like their big trucks too.
And all set for the big day tomorrow, the weather is forecast for sunshine all day, and a glowing 31 degrees - just as Jess and Nathan deserve :)
