Zero Post

I spent a fair proportion of my week milling about York station waiting for trains and only just spotted this.

According to the sign above its a 'Zero Post'.

The centre of York station was the Zero Point for the measurement of ten of the North Eastern railway lines apparently. Although don't ask me what that actually means.

This replica of the original was installed in 2004.
