Cross Cotswold Way
This 86 mile route runs from Banbury to Bath. It mainly follows part of the Macmillan Way. My neighbour is a member of a group doing the complete route over a period of time - the whole thing is organised by the Cotswold Wardens. As she was on holiday she offered me her place on the walk for the day. The big advantage is that a coach takes you to the start and picks you up at the end so that you can do a linear walk rather than the usual circular walk.
We got on the coach at Bourton-on-the-Water which took us to the edge of Cirencester where we followed the Monarch's Way for a while. A short diversion off this to go to the spring which is the source of the River Thames - see first extra. Of course, with the weather we have been having it was dry. We then followed the disused Thames and Severn Canal - see second extra. We left the canal at the Tunnel House where the canal goes into the Sapperton Canal Tunnel. From here we followed the Macmillan Way through Tarlton, Hazelton and Cherington before getting the coach back from Avening.
The main blip was taken near Cherington.
