Bingley's Oldest Inn

The Old White Horse is one of Bingley's oldest buidlings still in use. This area (Old Main Street) is between the Parish Church and Ireland Bridge, which you can just see to the left of the picture, and is the oldest part of the town.
It's an old coaching Inn from the mid 17th century and there is evidence of where the coaches would have entered as well as a barn and stables in an interior courtyard. According to Wikipedia there has been some sort of hostelry here since the late 14th century.
In more recent times it was a bit of a dodgy pub popular with young people before closing and reopening as a Tapas bar. It is now a Brasserie and we are going for an early doors meal this evening. We are taking a friend for a belated birthday meal (ours) as we were on holiday for the event and she has been away. (Any excuse will do really!)
They have managed to maintain an interesting and authentic interior and the food is good too!
As you can see it was a lovely sunny morning when we went into Bingley to buy flowers (the anniversary flowers at church are back on!) despite rain last night - we got wet walking home from the pub. I took the picture this morning just in case it was less clement when we go later.
It is fresher but still summer.

* Have enjoyed a lovely meal here tonight but noticed the blue plaque on the building says it is late 19th century? Who knows?
