The very late Geranium

Almost forgot my Blip tonight,so went out with the macro lens and flash,in the dark and to my surprise,found a Geranium still in flower.These should have died off weeks ago with first frost,but somehow survived?
Using a small f stop,the background has not registered. Istead there is a black background which I feel,enhances the vivid red of the flower?
F16 @1/60 sec. ISO 200 on my Nikon D3 with Tamron 90mm macro and my SB600 flash on an off camera cord.
